Frank Larson has seventy-two hours to find fifty-two thousand dollars, and a plan that puts him between the FBI and the man he owes.
Not Yet Published
Frank Larson used to walk high rollers into Vincent Deluca’s private games in Las Vegas, and people called him Lucky and meant it. Then the luck went, then the money, then the wife. Now Frank owes Deluca fifty-two thousand dollars, and Deluca has given him seventy-two hours.
Deluca came up through bookmaking and collections, and he’s about to buy his way into a casino. He keeps a page in his book on every man who owes him. Frank’s goes back twenty years.
Every bet Frank makes to get clear puts him in deeper, until he gets between Deluca and a delivery Deluca is waiting on. So is the FBI.
The FBI offers him a way out: help them bring Deluca down. Frank sees a way in: bring Deluca the delivery, take a seat at his game the night the money’s due, and play his way clear.
Now he’s playing both sides, and the people who trusted him are the ones paying. And every time he gets ahead, he does what he’s always done.
He presses it.
